Atomic Energy Central Schools are run and managed by Atomic Energy Education Society, a Central Autonomous Body under the Department of Atomic Energy. Government of India. The Society’s Governing council consists of members who are senior officers and scientists of the Department of Atomic Energy. At present the Society is running schools at Anushaktinagar(Mumbai), Tarapur(Maharastra), Hyderabad(A.P.), Manuguru(A.P.), Jaduguda (Jharkhand), Narwapahar(Jharkhand), Kakrapar(Gujrat), OSCOM(Orissa),Indore(M.P.), Rawatbhata(Rajasthan), Kalpakkam(Tamilnadu), Anupuram(Tamilnadu), Kudankulam(Tamilnadu), Kaiga(Karnataka), Mysore(Karnataka) and Narora(U.P.). The syllabus and scheme of students adopted by the schools for classes from I to X are on the pattern of Kendriya Vidyalaya. Classes XI & XII at each centre are affiliated , either to the State Board or the CBSE, Delhi depending on the local conditions.

AEC school Indore started in 1985 as a secondary school catering to the high school classes and was affiliated to CBSE. In 1987, the first batch of XI and XII was inducted. The present school building was constructed in 1988. The school began with only Science stream and Computer Science was introduced at Higher Secondary level in 1991 and Commerce stream in the year 2001. The school has a total strength of 937 students.

The school has well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer and Maths Laboratories. It also has a well equipped library with about 10,000 books in various categories. The school adopts a physical education programme designed by AEES which eventually trains the students in various sporting activities. In order to enhance the spirit of healthy competition and tap the latent talent among students, innovative Co-Curricular activities are conducted regularly. The school is smoothly maneuvered by a team of one Principal , one Vice-Principal , one Headmistress, ten Post Graduate teachers, twenty-two Trained Graduate Teachers, seventeen Primary teachers, one Preparatory teacher, two Lab assistant , one Lab attendant, three Office staff members and three Group-D staff. The total staff strength is sixty-three. The academic session starts in April every year and ends in the month of March of the following year. The medium of instruction is English .
