Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation(CCE)


CCE to be implemented in all classes from I to X . In an attempt to hone the specific skill of individual students, the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi has adopted the new grading system of evaluation called Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation . Each academic session has been divided into two terms. Here is a summary of the working of the new grading system. The areas of assessment have been divided into three parts :

Part 1. SCHOLASTIC AREAS(Academic Performance) It includes following two categories :

(i) Formative Assessmnent(FA): It will be a continuous assessment by the subject teacher and the evaluation and grading will be based on performance in class work, homework, assignment and project work. Its total weightage will be 40 %.

(ii) Summative Assessment (SA): It will be a contemporary pen and paper examination which will be conducted at the end of each term. Its total weightage will be 60%.

It is mandatory to score at least D grade separately in FA as well in SA for promotion to a higher class.


Scheme of Evaluation in the Scholastic A Subject (English, Hindi, Maths, Science and Social Science)

Only grades will be shown by the report book and CCE card (Report Card). Marks will not be intimated to the students. CCE card will be issued to the student after class X. It will be prepared by the school and signed by CBSE official and will be valid in all CBSE schools all over the country.
Record of marks obtained will be maintained by the subject teachers and class teachers which will be converted into respective grades for making the entries in the report cards. Grading system is as follows:

Evaluation of other Scholastic subjects i.e. Scholastic B Subjects (Work Experience, Art, and Physical Education) will be based on five grade scale i.e. A, AB, B and C.

Part 2. CO-SCHOLASTIC AREAS This will be assessment of (a) Life skill (Thinking skill, Social Skill & Emotional skill). (b) Attitudes (Attitude towards : Teachers, school mates, school programmes and environment). it will be based on five grade scale i.e. A', AB', B' and C' ( Evaluation of Value system will be based on three point scale i.e. A' , A and B.

Part 3. SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES This includes assessment of literary, creative, scientific & aesthetic skill, club activities, NCC, NSS,Scouting, Yoga, Gymnastics etc. Evaluation of these activities will be based on three point scale A', A and B.

Assessment in five point grades and seven point grades will be based on data continously collected by the subject teacher or class teacher in the form of descriptive indicators.
